Testing Smart Contracts using Foundry
In this section, you'll set up a smart contract test and test it using forge
.
Step 1: Test Script
You will see a directory called test
in the root of your project. This is where you can view/write your tests. The demo counter.sol
comes with a test script counter.t.sol
, which contains:
// SPDX-License-Identifier: UNLICENSED
pragma solidity ^0.8.13;
import {Test, console} from "forge-std/Test.sol";
import {Counter} from "../src/Counter.sol";
contract CounterTest is Test {
Counter public counter;
function setUp() public {
counter = new Counter();
counter.setNumber(0);
}
function test_Increment() public {
counter.increment();
assertEq(counter.number(), 1);
}
function testFuzz_SetNumber(uint256 x) public {
counter.setNumber(x);
assertEq(counter.number(), x);
}
}
Step 2: Run the Test
To run the test, execute the following command in the root of your project:
forge test
This will run the test script and display the results in the terminal.
forge test
